| In Sept. 2008 Jila, T-Bone & Kanati had xrays taken by a local vet for OFA. Jila's & TBone's results came back with laxity which was not consistent with their PennHIP scores suggesting that the dogs were not positioned properly during the procedure. We had Jila's test redone by our specialist Dr. Eric Weigand DVM but as the previous results had come back poor OFA was unwilling to offer more than a fair rating. The Specialist has reviewed her films & believes that Jila's hips deserved a higher score. However we will not pursue a new evaluation on her at this time & in this instance we will consider her PennHIP score as primary in all breeding decisions. TBone will be be retested early spring 2009. Dr. Weigand of Claremont Veterinary hospital is a PennHIP certified veterinarian, member of the AVMA & former president of the CVMA. He is an excellent veterinarian & his opinions in regards to hips are held in high esteem. |
